The Alberta Innovation Corridor (AIC), a joint pursuit in Alberta's big-city innovation ecosystems, is an advocate for technology-enabled innovative companies in Alberta, Canada.

These leaders understand the tremendous opportunities to multiply impact by working together to maximize efforts.

The AIC is committed to: coordinating programs and services to increase company success, speaking with one voice, marketing to attract global investment in Alberta. Work that drives the economic prosperity of our province.

Access to early-stage capital is a challenge across early-stage innovation ecosystems. The AIC partners with leaders like Startup Genome to provide proven policy recommendations that will enable an increase in startup access to early-stage funding.

The AIC is dedicated to engaging the voice of the entrepreneur as the Founding Funders interact with all levels of government. This includes shared innovation and technology benchmarking that provides valuable insights aligned with global best-practices.

AB Corridor Leadership

Three organizations make up the founding funders of the Corridor partnership – Calgary Economic Development, Innovate Edmonton, a division of Edmonton Economic Development, and Platform Calgary. These organizations have committed to equally invest and resource the Corridor programs and initiatives.

Terry Rock

Dr. Terry Rock is a champion of Alberta’s tech scene, and a foundational partner in the creation of the Alberta Innovation Corridor.

Terry comes from a background covering a span of industries and contexts, including Principal of Rock Strategy & Leadership, Executive Director of the Alberta Small Brewers Association, and Strategic Advisor to Alberta Music Cities. Other work included being the founding CEO of the Calgary Arts Development Authority, and bringing this wide variety of experiences to consulting for high-potential ventures, governments and government relations, marketing and sector development and working to establish Calgary’s place as a global innovation hub.

Terry is a passionate advocate of “the new Calgary,” moving the city from being known as “the oil capital of Canada” to a global innovation hub and looks to leverage Alberta’s strengths in traditional industries as a means of expanding into a more diverse economy.

Cheryll Watson

Cheryll Watson is a transformational changemaker advancing the conversion from potential to prosperity in the tech ecosystems of Edmonton and Alberta.

Cheryll has achieved repeated success in spearheading global business evolution for Intuit, a Fortune 500, Silicon Valley based tech company. She brings over 15 years of leadership experience in change leadership and communications strategy.

As a business strategist with proven expertise in tech innovation, entrepreneurship and global market entry in both public and private sector, she has successfully launched products in India, the UK, Australia, Canada and Singapore. In 2009 she was selected to be a leader in Intuit’s development of a global business division. The outcome scaled Intuit from two markets outside of North America to paying customers in 100+ countries. Key ingredients to this success were a relentless focus on customer needs and commitment to deliberate disruption.

Cheryll’s focus as leader of Innovate Edmonton is to set the vision and strategy for a team that contributes to cultivating the energy, innovation and investment needed to build a resilient and wealth generating economy and drive the economic prosperity of the province.
